What

RH 104 is a Linux training course that  introduces students to the Linux operating system using Red Hat Enterprise Linux as the learning platform. Learners gain hands‑on experience with essential Linux concepts, commands, and basic system tasks such as navigating file systems, editing text files, managing permissions, and verifying core system settings. These skills provide the groundwork for future Linux administration training.

There is no exam associated with this course.

Who

Although RH 104 is listed as a Red Hat systems administration course, it serves as an introductory Linux course that covers essential concepts along with a small set of basic administrative tasks.. Some of the material introduced here appears again in RH 124, giving beginning administration students an early, low‑pressure introduction that makes the transition into RH 124 more approachable.

This  course is also well‑suited for corporate managers, developers, and team members who need a fundamental understanding of the Linux operating system. By introducing essential concepts, fundamental tasks, and key technical terms, participants are able to  implement basic skills and communicate more clearly with technical teams.

Why

RH 104 gives new Linux users the foundational skills they need before moving into more advanced administration training. By introducing core concepts in a clear, accessible way, the course helps reduce the learning curve students often experience when first working with Linux.

This course also supports managers, developers, and team members who benefit from gaining a fundamental understanding of how Linux systems work. This understanding can improve day‑to‑day decision‑making, collaboration, and communication across technical and non‑technical roles.
